A leaked internal release schedule from
retailer GAME suggests EA's Crysis 2 has a set release date already:
September 24th.
The document, which has been uncovered by VG247,
offers a number of rough dates for major titles.
Other notables include DJ Hero 2, 'James Bond Racing' and Fallout: New
Vegas all in October. The listing also pins the release date of
Activision's Call OF Duty 7 in the same month - but we've heard it's
arriving in November.
Elsewhere, Singularity is down for June
28, whilst Bethesda's Brink is 'September'.
"No DRM" says EA... Except you have to be connected to the
internet at all times
The great DRM row continues this morning, as it's confirmed that Command
& Conquer 4 has adopted a similar DRM system to the heavily
criticised one used in Assassin's Creed II.
In a post over on EA's Command & Conquer 4 forums, community manager
'Apoc' writes "First thing to be clear about, Command & Conquer 4
has NO DRM. Zip, zero, zilch, none."
Sounds excellent, except a few lines later he adds: "To play Command
& Conquer 4, the computer needs to be connected to the internet."
PC Gamer's investigated Command & Conquer 4's controversial DRM,
which as requires a constant internet connection - just like Assassin's
Creed II.
So what happens when you lose your connection to EA's servers during a
C&C4 game session? The short answer is: bad stuff.
PC Gamer's done some extensive cable-yanking experiments which have

PC
gamers will have to wait 2 weeks longer than Xbox
The latest release schedule from
Ubisoft
shows a slip in the release date for the PC version of Splinter Cell
Conviction.
While Xbox 360 gamers will be able to dig into some
stealth kill action on April 16, PC gamers will be left wanting for
another two weeks until April 30.
PC gamers haven't even been given a Splinter Cell Conviction demo,
unlike their 360 friends who've had one since yesterday. We feel your
pain guys.
Lara Croft was at the Game Developers Conference looking like you've never seen her before. Sure, she still had braids and two great big…guns, but the similarities ended there. That's because we saw her in a full demo of her new downloadable adventure, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.
Unlike the Tomb Raider branded games, Lara Croft is a more arcade-style adventure with lots of running and jumping, played from an isometric perspective. It's also Crystal Dynamics' first download-only title, and it's due on Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, and PC digital download services at the end of this summer.
The story involves an ancient struggle between two South American warriors: Totec and Xolotl. They battled two thousand years ago over a powerful artifact known as the Mirror of Smoke, with Totec prevailing and banishing Xolotl. From there, Totec sealed himself with the mirror to ensure that it never fell into wicked hands.

Sid Meiers Civilization V is coming september 1, 2010. Civilization V will feature an entirely new game engine, as well as a hexagonal map instead of the square tiles of earlier games in the series.
The most obvious change is that the playable map is now made up of
hexagonal tiles instead of square ones. Hexes, or "a man's way to play a
strategy game" as I've described them, allow for some really
interesting tactical options and more things to worry about as you've
got six sides of your city to defend rather than four. It also allows
for more natural movement inside the environments, and as I saw in a
private demo of the game live in action, much better looking
environments too, with much more naturally sprawling forests and
mountain ranges snaking up around other patches of land.
And while the new game engine is promising DirectX 11 support for
cutting-e

With the recent Tomb Raider Trilogy completed, Crystal Dynamics is
looking to the digital download space to provide a fresh take on the
classic franchise formula. We got a first look at Lara Croft and the
Guardian of Light this morning, and found that ditching the Tomb Raider
moniker is one of the less significant changes Crystal Dynamics has
implemented. The isometric action/adventure boasts co-op play and
arcade-inspired combat, both a first for the venerable franchise.
The seeds of the story are planted two thousand years ago, when a battle
waged between armies of good and evil over a powerful artifact known as
the Mirror of Smoke. Totec, the leader of the Army of Light, triumphed
over his evil counterpart, Xolotl, and took control of the mirror,
banishing Xolotl from the world and becoming the Guardian of Light.
Totec entombed himself in the mirror within the Temple of Light to keep
it from falling into the wrong hands. Millennia later, enter Lara Croft.

Mafia II Developer- 2K Czech Publisher- 2K Games Engine- The
Illusion Engine Release date May - July 2010 -----------------------------------
Faced
with one the developers of the original Mafia, there's only one
question any fan really wants to ask. So I asked it. Why was that bloody
racing mission so stupidly difficult?
Daniel Vavra, lead
designer at 2K Czech (formerly the far less bleak sounding Illusion
Softworks) laughed and assured me that it was originally intended to be
harder, and that only the endless nagging of his superiors prevented it
becoming the most impossible-to-beat level in gaming history.
Putting
old grudges to bed, we set aside the only blotch on Mafia's tenure as
the PC's greatest, most well-written free-roaming shooter, and move on
to the matter at hand - its sequel.
